VisionWest’s Pataka Kai is considered to be an essential service and therefore will remain in operation throughout the COVID-19 lockdown period.

While we understand that this is an uncertain and unpredictable time, we assure you that the safety and support of whanau and staff remains our top priority.

On that note, please be advised that OUR PROCESSES FOR RECEIVING FOOD IS BEING WORKED OUT.

We appreciate your patience as we transition to new ways of working to ensure the safety of all.


UPDATE 26th March

Food is now only distributed by delivery to your place of living in food parcels. Please contact us on 09 818 0781 about your need and be please be patient as we transition our delivery approach. Also visit our Facebook page for the latest information.


On Wednesday 25 March, please adhere to the following when requesting and receiving food:

The Pataka Kai will maintain its current hours of Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 12-2pm.

Food Parcels will be pre-packaged and ready for distribution based on three different household sizes: Number 1 - Single; Number 2 - Family of 4 or less; Number 3 - Family of 5 or more.

Please park on Glendale Road and wait at the gate outside the Whanau Centre. While you wait, please practice physical distancing between you and your neighbour. You will not be permitted on campus to park.

You will be allowed in two or three at a time to collect your parcel.

If you are unwell or in self-isolation:

Please do not come to Visionwest if you are feeling unwell.

To have your food parcel delivered to you, please contact us via facebook or by phone. While we experience high volumes of requests, you can expect a response within 24 hours to coordinate a parcel. Please note there may be a slight delay in getting your parcel out to you.

VisionWest may need to change the way we distribute food quickly. Please keep an eye on our facebook page for updates on our process for pick-ups and deliveries. Information will be posted by 5pm on Sundays.

During this unprecedented time of change and uncertainty, the quantity of food in your parcels may vary from what you are used to. Please be aware that VisionWest is doing everything we can to keep a consistent food supply to you during these uncertain times.
