Partnership with NZ Police

During lockdown, VisionWest has been an essential service partner to the Waitemāta Whangaia Nga Pa Harakeke team of the New Zealand Police in supporting vulnerable whānau in our local communities.

We received the following message from the Waitemāta Police District: “Today, VisionWest provided 30 food parcels which are able to be distributed by Police directly to whānau in need. This arrangement is ongoing and we will be provided with more parcels as and when required. Thank you so very much to Brook and his incredible VisionWest team for their support.

“The intent is that these food parcels are placed in patrol cars so that, when frontline staff identify a need, they can provide food to families or individuals on the spot. The parcels contain non-perishable food and provide a fantastic opportunity to increase trust and confidence, and support those in our community who are suffering at this time. As our Road Policing Sergeant, Dave Orr, put it, ‘Instead of giving someone a ticket, if we see they’re in need, we can give them a food parcel.’”

It’s a real privilege to be able to partner with the Waitemāta Whangaia Nga Pa Harakeke team to help the vulnerable in our community in this way.
