Intensive Literacy and Numeracy Programme

VisionWest Training Centre currently runs intensive courses in literacy and numeracy. These courses are free of charge for all New Zealand citizens and residents. Potential students must have low qualifications and lack literacy and/or numeracy credits at NCEA Level 1. The course consists of one hundred to two hundred hours
of literacy and numeracy training. Students work a selfpaced program that directly addresses their specific needsin areas of:

• Vocabulary Spelling
• Punctuation Grammar
• Reading comprehension Mathematics

The VisionWest Intensive Literacy and Numeracy Department is run by a literacy tutor who co-ordinates the student programs. There is also a numeracy tutor and a trained ESOL tutor in the department. In addition, students are given help with transition into other educational programs or into employment. VisionWest Training Centre is a great place to learn and to lay foundations for the future.
