VisionWest Kindy kids "Monkey" Around at Chinese New Year

One of the great things about VisionWest Kindy is it's multicultural family feel. Never was this more prevalent than the recent celebrations for Chinese New Year. On Friday 5th February the children were invited to come to Kindy in their Traditional Chinese costume and, with parent participation, take part in some cool Chinese traditions.

When asked why the centre chose to celebrate Chinese New Year, Centre Manager, Marlo Camacho said, "We want to celebrate the diversity of culture in our children and their families. Chinese New Year is something important, particularly to our Asian families."

It was really great to see families involved making dumplings and playing traditional family games and we got a lot of great feedback. One parent said, "It was great to learn the art of dumpling making with the children." And another commented, "It was awesome when Teacher Youngran brought in her massive Korean drum and most of the kids and adults had a turn."
