FAQ

VisionWest Home Healthcare has more than 20 years experience of providing professional caring support to people in the community allowing them to live as independently as possible in their own homes. If you still have questions, have a read below or contact us.

What is In-Home Support

We support and assist you with the activities of daily living as identified in your Needs Assessment. We will help you organise your home environment by doing these tasks with you. We aim to give the best care possible and seek to enhance support you already receive through friends/family/whanau/community organisations. Every client is covered with an individualised service agreement. We will not do things you are capable of doing yourself. The kind of things that might be identified by your Needs Assessor might include:

Household Management

  • Cleaning Floors
  • Dusting
  • Cleaning Kitchen, Bathroom, Toilet
  • Changing Bed Linen
  • Identifying Hazards

Personal Cares
  • Dressing
  • Bathing
  • Personal Grooming
  • Meal Preparation
  • Toileting
  • Mobility
  • Basic Exercises

What is not included?

VisionWest Home Healthcare is not a commercial cleaning or housekeeping service. We do not provide spring cleaning, lawns, or gardening services. If you need help in these areas, contact your local Work and Income Office or phone 0800 552 002 - you may be eligible for a disability allowance to help pay for these services.

Who will provide my support

Our Support Workers come in all shapes and sizes, young and old, male and female. We encourage a strong sense if working as part of a team and there is an “Employee of the Month” award. Our Support Workers demonstrate Personal integrity, friendliness, patience, enthusiasm and flexibility. A police check is done with all our Support Workers and they must have a valid Drivers’ License. The majority of our Support Workers take up this position because they have a sense of compassion and really care about helping people who have difficulty in managing their daily living tasks, There is a real sense of satisfaction and achievement in caring for others and making a positive impact on their lives; to them it’s not just a job.

What does it cost?

Currently, there is no charge for clients who meet DHB, Ministry of Health Disability, and Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) criteria. However, if you do not qualify under these criteria, services can be accessed on a user pays basis.

What about Respite Care

Our services are not only available to the elderly, but to sick injured, and those with disabilities of all ages, for as long as required. Tailoring Home Healthcare and taking a holistic approach to individual needs is what we do best.
