Every year the Foodbank team joins forces with the Community Care team to provide Christmas food parcels and gifts for nearly 200 families in West Auckland. A team of dedicated volunteers from VisionWest rally together to collect and wrap gifts for children and put together Christmas food parcels to give to people facing financial hardship. Each family receives everything needed for a Christmas dinner, a few extra treats, and gifts for their children. People are invited to join us for lunch; parents relax over a nice coffee while the kids enjoy supervised activities outside. Last year, one mum asked, “Is it okay if I hide this present from my daughter because it may be the only one she gets and I want to save it for Christmas Day.
