Exciting new Partnership with Unitec School of ArchitectureMay 17th, 2012

VisionWest Community Housing and Unitec School of Architecture are working together on a design and build project.

The brief is to develop a four bedroom and a two bedroom home that is affordable, sustainable and cost effective to run. The School of Architecture will apply their learning and principles to create an attractive low cost home that reflects some design flair.

About 16 Unitec students who are in their 3rd year will be working in teams with Dave Strachan and Pat De Pont of SGA Ltd, for the design and working drawings. They will then build their design under the supervision of celebrity builder Cocksy. The amazing thing is that the design, drawings and labour to build are being gifted to VisionWest at no cost.

VisionWest is particularly excited about this project as we get to own the plans and can reproduce them, increasing the supply of quality housing at social rents to low income families.
On the 3 April 2012, the Unitec architectural students presented their concept design to the Trust. It was very well received by all who attended the presentation.

VisionWest Community Housing develops and provides transitional and long term supported Housing in West Auckland. It is VisionWest’s commitment to provide safe, healthy, affordable and quality housing for low-income families. Families who live in a VisionWest home can work with our Housing Social Worker, and they are also encouraged to make the most of the wrap-around services available to them.
We look forward to the next stage of development in this project.

Thank you to all ‘The Stars’ who joined with The Trusts Stadium & VisionWest Community Trust to help light up our community.November 30th, 2011

‘Christmas Stars’ was a collaboration between The Trusts Stadium & VisionWest Community Trust. The Trusts Stadium generously sponsored a fully decorated 12 ft Christmas Tree which was displayed in the main foyer at The Trusts Stadium, 65-67 Central Park Drive, Henderson.

All donations of food and gifts went to 180 families who were struggling or facing crisis situations in West Auckland to help make Christmas a special time and not just another day!  We hosted a wonderful ‘Christmas hamper collection day’ where the selected families were able to come and enjoy some special treats, and join in fun and games for the children, while collecting their Hamper and Christmas presents for the children.
